Bright Eyes (13 Days of Horror)

Edit*** I've had some computer issues, gonna be on hold for a little while. I don't think I can continue the '13 Days of Horror' series, so gone back to regular Project Photo Doodle. Hopefully back soon!***** Phil

I thought I'd doodled over a person in the photo for a change. I'm getting some serious David Lynch vibes from this photo-doodle! Which is cool, cos Lynch is one of my favourite directors. Thanks to Rubén for this Lynchian treat.

Rubén sent me these words with the photo;

"The narrow street with the pitch black river in the background made me snap this moody pic. My wife and I, along with dear friends, traveled there from our hometown in Mexico City to witness the visually stunning celebrations for the 'Día de la Candelaria' (Day of the Candelaria virgin) that takes place on the first week of February."

Spirits of Osaka (13 Days of Horror #3)

Osaka, Japan. Photo taken by T.J. Conde

I thought an eerie photo of Japan needed some Japanese inspired spirit doodles.
Thanks to TJ for the photo!

Something Evil Lurks (13 Days of Horror #1)

The monsters have taken control of Project Photo Doodle for a creepy-doodle countdown to Halloween. With terrifying pleasure they present to you; '13 Days of Horror'...

The first doodle from the crypt is from the grim land of Halifax, England and was taken by Joe Stenson. Joe also provided the photo for the '13 Days of Horror' header (which was taken in High Royds, Menston)!

I think this is an atmospheric and truly brilliant photo. Thanks to Joe for letting me doodle on his eerie photos.

You can say hello to Joe on twitter >>>here<< and see his website >>>here<<<
And you can see loads of his work on Flickr

I want to know your favourite Horror Film, leave me a comment to let me know

Come Stay At Hotel Monster

Grand Hotel, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. Photo taken by Julia Whitley of Harrogate Signs

I love this photo-doodle! I think the colours work really nicely.

I did a little competition on twitter recently that Julia won, winning herself a print of this. It will be in the post!

I'm gonna do another comp, all you have to do to enter is tweet a location you'd like to see doodled on, tweet location to @philwallart also include #projectphotodoodle. The winner gets a free signed print.

Street of Sighs

Colonia del Sacramento, Colonia, Uruguay. Photos taken by Sofia Aguerre

Some words sent to me from Sofia, about the history surrounding the street in the photos;

"This place is called "La calle de los suspiros" (Street of sighs). There are several stories about this street. One of them is that the sentenced to death were taken to that street to drown when the tide rise. Another story tells that in the street, there were a lot of brothels where the sailors had fun, and the prostitutes sighed for them. The last and most told here is about a young girl who was waiting for her lover, when suddenly, a masked man thrust a dagger into her chest. The "sigh" was her last sigh...I've been to Colonia just once, two year ago, and it's a beautiful place."

Thank you Sofia for these photos!

You can check out her blog here; ennemidusommeil.blogspot.com, and you can also say hello to Sofia on twitter by clicking on her name at the top of the post.

Monster Crossing

Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Photo taken by Amanda Bond

Tokyo is the most amazing place I've ever been to, it's strange seeing places you've been to in other people's photos. I remember crossing this very road in Shibuya! Whenever I think of my time spent in Tokyo I really miss not being there. Thanks to Amanda for this amazing photo!

'Front Magazine' article.

It is with a massive smile on my face that I introduce this to you, me looking like I'm about to do very bad things to an animated monster inside the pages of 'Front Magazine'...

It's on page 28, in the Magic 8 article. The magazine is ram-packed with cool stuff and for just £3.90!

I'm currently working my way through the mag, cover to cover with a nice brew.

The photo of the Octopus thing on the boat is by Ira Ti and was taken in the Ukraine. And the one of the Berlin Olympic Stadium is by Susan Middleton. Thanks to both of you for letting me doodle on your photos!

The Monster's Comic Was...SOLD-OUT!

OK Comics, Thornton's Arcade, Leeds, England. Photo taken by Wendy Denman of Love Leeds More.

I do not endorse using your laser-eyes to smash shop windows! I do suggest pre-ordering your comics to avoid disappointment though.

What Superpower would you like to have? Let me know in the comments, but remember with great powers comes great responsibility!

Thank You For Fying With MonsterJet Hairyplanes

This one was taken on the way to Alcudia in Mallorca, Spain. Travelling from Leeds/Bradford airport, on a Boeing 747. It was taken above mountains, somewhere over Spain. I took this one myself for a change, with my phone.

Just got back from a nice relaxing holiday, so the monsters at Project Photo Doodle were also on a short break (hope you didn't miss us too much!). My wife got loads of great photos of our holiday, so I'll do a 2 part blog as soon as I've got some of them doodled on! I've also got quite the backlog of emails to sort out.

The 'Love Arts Leeds' postcard exhibition that I'm part of, is now on at the Leeds Art Gallery, in the Art Space (near the shop). The postcards are great, go have a look if you're in town.

More photos of my postcard and info about the exhibition on the previous blog.
